Our Computing Curriculum

Core Curriculum Offer

Digital Literacy

In an ever-evolving world, teaching our learners how to be safe digital citizens is paramount. We look at the advantages of communication and collaboration online and think about how to use the internet in the best possible way. Our online learning platform, Seesaw, ensures a joined up approach between school and home; it enables the children to showcase their work and access learning from home.

Computer Science

Computer science enables our learners to enhance their creativity and algorithmic thinking while also developing a higher level of problem solving and integral thinking. Using coding software, children take on projects such as creating digital clocks, designing computer games and constructing chatbots. Throughout these lessons, children use their computational thinking to write algorithms to implement as code before evaluating and debugging their program.

Information Technology

We strive to ensure that children can creatively present their work using a variety of software and apps. Our lessons ensure that children are competent in word processing, data handling, animation and video creation. The skills they learn are transferred across the curriculum and ensure that children have a strong awareness of their audience and good design principles.

Enhanced Curriculum Offer

Manor Park University

Children at Manor Park have access to a large variety of tech equipment to enhance their learning throughout the curriculum and to foster an interest in computing and problem-solving. As part of their extra-curricular activities, they can become robotic Lego experts using SPIKE and WeDo equipment, tinker with Crumble programmers and invent, craft and code with Makey Makey kits.

Lunchtime Club

Every lunchtime the children at Manor Park are able to access a club run by our IT specialist. Children can drop in to this club to extend their skills with the iPads.

Extra-Curricular Clubs

Every week a 'Tech Club' is run by an external specialist. In this club children can extend their computing skills beyond the core curriculum on a range of devices, apps and programmes.
