Welcome to Year 6

Year Six is part of the ‘Upper Phase’ in our school. Mrs Jelley is the phase leader and her role is to support the staff, children and families. If you have any questions, concerns or positive feedback then we would love to hear from you. You can contact Mrs Jelley via the school office or by emailing admin@manorpark.coventry.sch.uk or on Class Dojo.

In Year 6, we love celebrating every achievement — whether it’s a big milestone or a small step forward — and we’re always here to support the children along the way. Our SOAR values are a big part of daily life in school, helping the children build confidence, resilience, and a positive mindset. We’re here to make sure your child’s final year of primary school is not only fun and rewarding, but it also gives them the chance to shine; our goal is to equip every child with the confidence, skills, and knowledge they need to continue growing as independent learners ready to take on secondary school and beyond.

We’ve got an action-packed and inspiring year ahead, filled with unforgettable experiences and meaningful learning. Our enriched curriculum includes exciting topics like Rising from the Rubble, Frozen Planet, and Meet the Greeks — all designed to spark curiosity and give children the chance to explore, question, and lead their own learning through research and independent thinking.
To bring learning to life, we’ve planned a range of amazing opportunities, including an immersive WW2 experience day at Beaumanor Hall, a visit to Coventry Cathedral to see how the WW2 shaped our local history, and the chance to take part in a Remembrance service at War Memorial Park. We’ll also be welcoming a real-life polar explorer to share their incredible adventures and teach the children all about the polar regions.

And of course, one of the biggest highlights of the year — our residential trip to Dol-Y-Moch! It’s an unforgettable experience full of challenge, teamwork, and fun. Plus, we round off the year with our much-loved end-of-year treat day, celebrating everything the children have achieved during their time at Manor Park.

If you ever have any questions or want to chat with your child’s class teacher, please don’t hesitate to get in touch — you can contact us through the school office or send a message via Class Dojo. We’re always happy to help! By working together, we can make sure your child has a fantastic, successful and enjoyable time in Year 6. We’re looking forward to sharing this exciting journey with you!
